For the second year running, Emeritus Professor Kevin Wheldall AM, Chair, Academic Board for The Academy for the Science of Instruction, has been ranked as Australia’s top scholar in Special Education. According to ScholarGPS, he is in the top 0.5% in his discipline internationally. Close colleague, Dr Mark Carter, Dean of The Academy for the Science of Instruction, is placed second in Australia, immediately after Kevin, and is also listed as being in the top 0.5% of scholars in the field. They are both also in the top 0.5% for the field of Education generally.
Emeritus Professor Wheldall has been ranked 36th in Special Education globally, whilst Dr Carter has moved up from 45th in 2024 to 37th in 2025 – in the same discipline.
